Coffee Loves…

Several years back, Starbucks released a “Black Apron Exclusives” series of coffees. Each was in a black, laser etched box, with a single-color foil bag inside. Premium price, premium flavor, with some proceeds going to help the farmers’ communities.

Our favorite coffee ever was the Rwanda Blue Bourbon. Some Impanema (Brazil) coffees came close in flavor, but never “there”. Sumatra coffees also tended to be tasty, but a different profile. Just, not generic like most coffee blends.

I found another Rwanda coffee that has hints of currant, so I’m going to try that and see if it’s good.

Also, we learned from our Baristo yesterday that there’s a coffee type called “Peaberry”, where the coffee cherry has just one bean inside, large and round, rather than the 2 hemisphere beans. This apparently has a nice flavor, and so I’m going to try some of this too.

Lastly, there’s a type of coffee grown at lower altitude, different species, called “robusto” (as opposed to “arabica”. Supposed to be more earthy, higher caffeine. Some blends contain it, but Starbucks doesn’t use it. I’m going to get a small amount of robusto peaberry and see how that is in comparison.
