This will change from 768k/256k to 1.5M/512k.
DSL goes from $30 to $40.
Static IP goes from $20 to Free.
Phone line goes from $6 to $14.
We’ll still have the Simple Choice bundle which discounts services and gives other services.

We may or may not incurr outage during the conversion.
The DSL group says we can keep the same IP.

We technically get 10 email addresses and 10MB web hosting with them,
but we run it all on our own servers.

We technically have voicemail via the simple choice plan, but we like the answering machine since we can hear missed calls.

Distribution upgrade completed. It seemed pretty clean.
Let me know if there are promblems.

Ok, after libc6 went on, locale generation works, which was the tip-off before that it was all in the pooper.

I did run into a space issue in /, but that’s fixed too.

crazy libnfslock, soooo much hassle.
Aparently, libnfslock is no longer even offerred. It looks like liblockfile handles it all internally.
It also looks like there was never a provision to migrate/upgrade automagically,
or if there was, it was a short span.

There was a minor www outage this morning while I tried to upgrade libc.
I looked more into the linker errors and it really looks like libnfslock isn’t current.

Since I’m not using NFS, I don’t really need a `Preload library that overrides open() to make O_EXCL work over NFS.`

I’m re-testing the upgrade now.

omnitech.net’s kernel was upgraded to 2.6.12-1 and rebooted successfully.
The extended outage was because /storage thought it hadn’t been FSCK’d in 380 days. Well, the drive isn’t even 380 days old.
